To further my case of being a lemming, I should likely state that, hey, I’m writing one. For whom? Oh, you know, I don’t know. I thought about it long and hard before I decided maybe I can write one for Poseidon . . .
Okay, not long or hard at all. It’s rather a no-brainer.
I still (and will likely forever) feel far under qualified to write such a thing. I’m doing it anyway, because it needs to be done.
My goal is to have it published by spring of 2013.
The plan is to have the book divided into three handy-dandy sections: Historical cult evidence; myths; modern worship. The emphasis will be on the modern worship, because that’s what’s most important. I’ll drudge up some of his lesser known myths, and I’ll poke around his various cult places, but really, I want to talk about Poseidon now, and so that’s what I’ll be doing.
And, once the snow melts (read: I give it an hour) I may get around to having my first Poseidon festival of the year. Since it’s to honor new growth, I really ought to wait until I can see said new growth.
There’s no such thing as being a lemming when it comes to devotionals, since the more of them there are, the better! Also, you started talking about your Poseidon devotional before I revived my Odin devotional–so there! ;P

I told Beth this same thing over on her blog when she mentioned writing her book on Odin, but I’m also working on something like this for Brigid. I actually plan to focus on modern worship as well, and worship throughout the year–not just at Imbolc!

oooh, exciting! I love the historical bits (and, granted, with Poseidon I realize I’m spoiled — in theory, anyway — because some of the stuff written was written before conversion) but I’m really interested in the modern worship. I’ll love to see more about Brigid beyond Imbolc. Yay!

I must admit I’m quite excited about the devotionals you and Beth are writing as well. Poke around either of my blogs and you’ll find Odin is in my life too, and Poseidon is a God I’ve always been intrigued by (plus He happens to have a role in my sweetie’s life~)
